FACILITIES
Cosmetic Development Systems is a privately held cosmetic and personal care research, manufacturer and packaging firm located in the coastal county of Ventura California. We are positioned near the coast about 30 miles northwest of Los Angles in a beautiful mountain valley at the foot of the Santa Monica Mountains. We believe it to be one of the most beautiful regions of the globe and we are here by design. We acquired the property and built our facilities in 1977 when our closest neighbor was a quarter of a mile away. Today we are a part of a huge modern industrial subdivision incorporating Blue Cross, Northrop and Amgen among others.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cy Faries and I am CDS's Founder and CEO. Though much of my time is necessarily devoted to business operations, I am proud to retain a position within our technical staff along side my fellow scientists, but not as their Technical Director. Levita Mendoza is our Technical Director, our Chief Research Chemist and unquestioned leader of our technical team.
Highly respected within the industry, Levita has more than 35 years of intense personal care and cosmetic research experience. She served seventeen years as New Products Project Manager within the highly respected research department of Redken Laboratories. Levita joined our staff as Technical Director in 1988. Her experience has involved virtually every aspect of personal care and cosmetic research. Among Levita's impressive credentials is also found an accreditation in Pharmacology.
I likewise have served a lengthy tenure in personal care research. Both as Research Chemist for Colorful Products Corp., for Exhibitor Laboratories, Inc., and finally CDS until I persuaded Levita to come on board. Currently I serve as CEO for each of those companies. Preceding the founding of Colorful in 1972, I was employed by Alberto Culver for a tenure of 6 years, and prior to that by Savage Pharmaceutical Laboratories, now a division of Cutter Labs..
Our Production Chemist, John C., attended Loma Linda University where upon graduation he was employed by Loma Linda Foods as Compounding and Quality Control Chemist until joining our firm 18 years ago. Needless to say, John is invaluable to me.
Our apprentice bench Nayelli P. (she has joined us since the photo was shot ),and our Q.C. staff member, Lucy C., are both young ladies new to our country, new to our language and culture, and they are thoroughly enjoying their first commercial position in personal care chemistry. Each have eagerly embrace their new and considerable challenge. I'm much impressed with their courage, dedication and determined positive attitudes. With immigrants like these, our country is much the better.
